Syrian Army Secured Several Towns from Nusra Front Terrorists
Syrian government forces have regained ground from rebels in the south, since a large-scale offensive was launched a week ago in the border region, CCTV reports.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group says the operation aims to take a triangle of rebel-held territory from rural areas southwest of Damascus to Deraa City to Quneitra.
The southern rebels have often been described as the best organized of the mainstream armed opposition.
The Nusra Front, al-Qaeda’s Syrian wing, has a presence in the region. Syrian Army reportedly recaptured two towns from the rebels this week in the areas near the border with Israel.
