Syrian Army Special Forces Capture Oil Wells 101 and 111 in Jabal Al-Sha’ar
The Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces brigade “Qawat Suqour Al-Sahra” (Desert Hawks) attacked the remaining Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) positions at Jabal Al-Sha’ar (Poet Mountains) in east Homs, capturing two strategic wells before advancing further north towards the Hama Governorate.
According to a military source, the Desert Hawks captured Wells 101 and 111 at Jabal Al-Sha’ar over the last 48 hours, advancing towards the vital Well 105 before nightfall on Tuesday.
For the SAA’s Central Command, the capture of the final oil well in Jabal Al-Sha’ar is paramount to their operations in central Syria, as this area has been targeted repeatedly by ISIS militants from provinces as far as Ar-Raqqa and Al-Hasakah.
With the Tiger Forces (Qawat Al-Nimr) being redeployed to the Aleppo Governorate, the remaining contingents in Jabal Al-Sha’ar are the Desert Hawks and the 18th Tank Battalion.
