Syrian forces mount defense of Damascus following US-led airstrikes

The US, UK and France have launched airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus early on Saturday morning, targeting alleged chemical weapons sites.
Smoke can be seen rising from a scientific research facility in Barzeh, which the coalition claims is being used for the production of chemical and biological weapons.
The strikes are a response to a supposed chemical weapons attack on Douma last week. Syria and Russia have both denied the allegations, calling them ‘staged’ and a ‘fabrication’.
