The armed forces have highlighted the need for tangible actions to back up the statements made by Ahmad al-Sharaa, known as Abu Mohammad al-Jolani. His rhetoric underscores the “unity of Syrian territory, maintenance of state institutions, non-sectarian composition of the Syrian government, prohibition of sectarian incitement, protection of Syrian lives, halting of conflicts throughout Syria, and assurance of security, civil peace, and freedoms.” However, the military is calling for these declarations to be matched by concrete and transparent steps to address public concerns arising from certain violations and activities that contradict these statements across multiple regions.
A coalition of 43 signatories, encompassing both individuals and organizations from a wide array of Syrian societal sectors, has endorsed the statement.
