Syrian PM to PLO official: Palestinian refugees are like brothers to the Syrians
The Palestinian Cause will remain at the top of Syria’s pan-Arab interests, said Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi on Saturday.
Speaking with Director of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Ambassador Anwar Abdul-Hadi, al-Halaqi stressed that Syria is now, as it has always been, more committed to its national and pan-Arab position, undaunted by the US-Zionist and Western plots targeting it.
He made it clear to Abdul-Hadi that the Palestinian refugees in Syria, who have been as well targeted in the terrorist war raging in the country since 2011, are like “brothers” to the Syrian citizens and are being treated equally.
The terrorist organizations operating in Syria have not spared the camps and neighborhoods where Palestinian refugees reside in the Syrian provinces.
Yarmouk Camp neighborhood in Damascus city is a telling example of this, where terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra entered, committing terror acts and driving thousands of residents from their homes.
For his part, Abdul-Hadi stressed that the Palestinians stand on their Syrian brethren’s side in the face of the terrorist war, saying Syria, under President Bashar al-Assad, is the “real guarantor” of the Palestinians.
