Syrian shock troops head to east Deir Ezzor for upcoming offensive against ISIS
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has recently sent their shock troops to the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News this morning.
According to the source, the 9th Division’s shock troops arrived in the Badiya Al-Sham region for their upcoming offensive against the Islamic State (ISIS).
Led by the Colonel Nizar Fandi, the 9th Division will be tasked with eliminating the Islamic State’s last remnants inside the vast Badiya Al-Sham region of Deir Ezzor.
The 9th Division’s shock troops are elite troops that recently participated in the East Ghouta and southern Damascus offensives.
