Takfiri Terrorists Withdraw from Tha’lah Military Airbase; Druze Civil Defense Capture Sikakah
One week after they launched their offensive at the Tha’lah Military Airbase in western Al-Sweida, the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Brigade” – along with Jaysh Al-Yarmouk and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – have withdrawn all of their armed combatants from the southwestern perimeter of the base, as the Syrian Armed Forces and the Druze Civil Defense refused to yield any territory to the militants.
Last Tuesday, the Islamist groups achieved some surprising success at the southwestern perimeter of the airport; however, reinforcements from the Druze Civil Defense and Jaysh Al-Muwahiddeen poured into the village of Tha’lah and joined their comrades from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) at the frontlines of the military airbase, where they helped push back all of the enemy combatants.
In addition to the militant withdrawal from the Tha’lah Military Airbase, the Druze Civil Defense – in coordination with Jaysh Al-Muwahiddeen and the National Defense Forces – launched a powerful assault at Sikakah, where they confronted a large contingent of militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jaysh Al-Yarmouk at this village in the Al-Sweida Governorate’s western countryside.
According to a military source in Al-Sweida, firefights were reported between the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Druze Civil Defense this morning at the Al-Sheikh Hussein Mountains on the border of Dara’a; these clashes are still ongoing, despite the Syrian Arab Air Force’s (SAAF) relentless airstrikes near Brigade 52 Base and Al-Hirak.
