Terrorists offensive in the West Ghouta fails to reverse the Syrian Army’s gains
Terrorists launched a large-scale counter-offensive in the West Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Tuesday, targeting the farms surrounding the key town of Deir Khabiyeh.
Led by Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Al-Nusra Front) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the jihadist rebels initially managed to capture a few small farms near Deir Khabiyeh; however, they would ultimately fail to maintain the ground they gained on Tuesday.
According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces destroyed 3 tanks that belonged to the jihadist rebels, while also killing several militants.
The Al-Masdar correspondent added that the jihadist rebels of Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham seized the Syrian Arab Army’s T-72 tank and its operating crew near the outskirts of Deir Khabiyeh.
In the coming hours, the Syrian Armed Forces are expected to counter this assault by the jihadist rebels and storm Deir Khabiyeh’s gates.
