According to the statement, Syrian forces are engaged in fierce clashes with militant groups linked to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front. These groups are reportedly supported by mercenaries and are utilizing heavy artillery and drones in their offensive.
Syrian forces have launched intensive defensive maneuvers over a 100-kilometer stretch amidst a coordinated multi-front offensive, leading to reported casualties on both sides, according to an official statement.
The Army announced that it has strategically repositioned its forces in response to the extensive nature of the assaults and the critical strategic significance of the regions involved. This tactical redeployment aims to strengthen defensive positions and withstand the offensive, while simultaneously setting the stage for a counteroffensive operation.
The Syrian military issued a statement underscoring its dedication to safeguarding civilians and reestablishing control over cities currently held by terrorist factions. The statement highlighted that the actions being implemented are temporary, forming part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at restoring full government authority over the regions of Aleppo and Idlib.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Syria has reported that a tentative calm has enveloped the frontlines of Aleppo as of Saturday. This development comes in the wake of armed groups making an incursion into the western neighborhoods of the city.
Our correspondent has confirmed that militant factions have taken over approximately 60% of Aleppo, enforcing a curfew on the local population in the affected areas until further notice.
Additionally, reports have emerged confirming that the Syrian military has redeployed forces towards Aleppo Airport with the objective of protecting the city from additional harm. Meanwhile, Syrian warplanes have been engaged in operations, striking significant militant targets and movement corridors to the west of Aleppo.
Our correspondent in the northern Aleppo countryside reports that residents of the towns of Nubbul and al-Zahraa have evacuated following the entry of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the area.
In the ongoing conflict, airstrikes have persistently targeted militant factions in Aleppo and its surrounding rural areas.
Furthermore, a correspondent from Al Mayadeen reported on the ongoing fierce clashes between the Syrian army and terrorist groups along the southeastern Idlib countryside axis.
In addition, Syrian aircraft have conducted strikes on militant positions and movements located to the west of Aleppo.
