Trump engages in a risky and potentially misguided strategy by initiating military actions in Yemen

A former top commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has publicly criticized US President Donald Trump, asserting that his decision to initiate military strikes on Yemen constitutes an "imprudent gamble."

On Monday, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a prominent member of Iran’s Expediency Council, criticized the US president in a post on his X account. He accused the American leader, who had previously promoted a peace-seeking and anti-war stance, of launching what he described as his first unlawful and brutal conflict in Yemen.

Rezaei remarked that former President Donald Trump has abandoned several initiatives, including a potential peace agreement for Ukraine, aspirations to annex Canada into the United States, and a strategy to gain control over the Panama Canal. He further commented that Trump has now embarked on a risky, uncalculated venture.

He asserted that the resilient and steadfast Yemeni combatants will, with divine assistance, overcome the technologically advanced US naval forces.

At least 53 individuals, predominantly women and children, lost their lives and 101 others sustained injuries following the United States’ first military strikes on Yemen, executed on March 15 under President Donald Trump’s administration since his inauguration in January.
