Trump’s approval rating drops to new low, 53% unhappy
The majority of Americans are unhappy with Donald Trump’s performance as president with less than a month in the White House, a new poll shows, positing a new low in his popularity.
According to a Gallup tracking poll released Wednesday, 53 percent of Americans disapproved of the former reality TV star’s handling of the government, while only 42 percent approved.
Two days after Trump assumed office on January 20, his ratings were 45-45 percent.
The 12-point gap between his approval and disapproval ratings is also unprecedented.
Trump’s grip on power marked the lowest level of popularity a US president has enjoyed in modern history.
Gallup, which has been tracking the US commander-in-chiefs’ performance since former President Dwight D Eisenhower, tracks the job approval based on daily telephone interviews.

Meanwhile, a Morning Consult/Politico poll showed that Trump’s favorability is plummeting.
Forty-nine percent of voters approve of Trump’s job performance, down from 49 percent in the same poll a week earlier.
His disapproval rating also rose to 46 percent from 41 percent.
