UN: 880,000 individuals have been displaced in Syria
Over 880,000 individuals have been forced to flee their homes amid the recent intensification of conflict in Syria, as reported by United Nations humanitarian agencies.
According to a report by Xinhua on Monday, United Nations partners have estimated that approximately 6 percent of displaced individuals are living with at least one form of disability.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported a significant influx of return movements, noting that over 220,000 individuals returned on Sunday. The agency further highlighted that more than 40,000 displaced persons are currently residing in approximately 250 collective centers throughout northeast Syria.
Authorities have indicated a complex movement of displaced individuals traversing the border between Lebanon and Syria.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), since December 8, Lebanese authorities have documented under 10,000 Syrian refugees making the journey back to Syria from Lebanon.
The United Nations Refugee Agency has announced that Lebanese officials estimate the return of approximately 30,000 displaced individuals from Syria to Lebanon as of Friday.
