US, ME allies’ anti-terror rhetoric a lie: Analyst
A political analyst says the US and its regional allies’ much-touted rhetoric of fighting terrorism is just a lie aimed at deflecting attention from their own crimes.
“Well this is a lie. This is a big lie. We cannot buy that neither from the Americans nor the Israelis or the Saudis also,” Redwan Rizk said in an interview with Press TV.
“So this declaring a war on extremist or al-Qaeda groups, this is propaganda just to cover their crimes against humanity and to justify their crimes against other people, the Syrians and the Lebanese also and the Iraqis,” Rizk underlined.
He then highlighted the role of Saudi Arabia and Israel, both US allies, in fueling tension in Syria by aiding militants in the Arab country.
“As we know that we have thousands of Saudis who are fighting now in Syria. They have declared the number as many as three thousand Saudis are fighting now inside Syria and also there are some Israeli officers who were caught in Syria helping the rebels or fighting with them. Many Israeli advisors were involved in planning many battles around Syria from the borders of Turkey, borders of Lebanon also and borders of Jordan,” he said.
The analyst reiterated that the US and its regional allies continue to sponsor terrorists by sending them arms and cash.
“So those groups are receiving direct arms, aid and money and training from the Americans. The Saudis are paying and the Israelis are providing all kind of arms and ammunition needed for the battle, in their war, against everybody actually,” the analyst stated.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. Over 130,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the conflict.
