US Senator: US, Turkey, S. Arabia, Qatar, Jordan Fueling Terrorism in Middle East
US Senator Richard H. Black is of the opinion that the US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar are giving unequivocal support to the ISIL terrorists operating in the Middle East, stressing that America along with its western and Arab allies are seeking to turn the region into a safe haven for terrorists in an attempt to achieve their vicious goals.
“Around the time that Libya fell, al-Qaeda operatives sent the first 600 jihadists through Turkey to fight against Syria. For the past four years since that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the US have sent tens of thousands of jihadists and enormous quantities of arms to fuel the terrorists’ brutal uprising,” Republican Virginia State Senator Richard H. Black said in an exclusive interview with Fars News Agency.
He further described Saudi Arabia as the main backer of terrorism across the globe, and said, “Allied efforts have promoted global terrorism. Today, terrorists are being trained at camps in Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Every terrorist recruited, trained and armed by those powers has become a threat to world order. Thousands of highly-skilled terrorists will return, determined to overthrow the nations from whence they came. Today, even Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest financier of global terrorism, has grown more fearful about returning terrorists. All nations that sponsor terrorism in Syria will suffer the consequences of that foolhardy scheme.”
Richard Hayden “Dick” Black is a Republican member of the Virginia State Senate. Black represents the newly formed 13th District encompassing both parts of Loudoun and Prince Williams Counties. Black was previously a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1998 to 2006.
Black served as a pilot in the US Marines during the Vietnam War, earning the Purple Heart medal. After the war, he left the service and earned a law degree, returning to military service as a prosecutor with the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Black later headed the Army’s Criminal Law Division at the Pentagon, before retiring from the military in 1994.

Q: The ISIL Takfiri group has been committing heinous crimes in Iraq and Syria, including mass executions and beheading of men, women and children. Many political commentators maintain that the US and its allies’ policies towards the Middle East have significantly played a key role in creating the terrorist group. What’s your take on that? Do you believe that terrorism will one day come back to haunt its creators? Do you see any connection between the 9/11 attacks and emergence of ISIL terrorist group?
A: US policy has been confused and ineffective. Al-Qaeda attacked the US on September 9, 2001, killing 3,000 Americans. Because of the political sensitivity of dealing with a mass killing carried out mainly by Saudi Arabians, US policy has been confused and ineffective. Today, the terrorist threat is far greater than it was under Osama bin Laden. Throughout the west, the extremists carry out attacks with great frequency.
On 9/11, let me explain why terrorism is increasing despite US efforts since the attack. As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton executed a plan to topple the Syrian government. In order to do this, it was first necessary to overthrow the Libya(‘s Gaddafi). This was done in order to capture Colonel Gaddafi’s vast store of modern arms, and these were used to supply terrorists’ intent on overthrowing Syria.
In 2011, the US, France and Britain attacked Libya by air and destroyed it totally. Even before Libya fell, Turkey took control of a Libyan airfield and began shipping weapons to Turkey and on into Syria.
Meanwhile, covert operatives worked with the Muslim Brotherhood to orchestrate a Syrian uprising. They did this by exploiting religious divisions in several Syrian cities. Christians and Alawites were targeted in the same way the Nazis targeted German Jews on Kristallnacht.
US Ambassador Ford promised US support for the rioters, signaling plans for regime change. He sent dispatches portraying the rioters as people seeking westernized democracy. Those reports were false. Some Syrian soldiers deserted when it seemed inevitable that foreign powers would overthrow the government. They formed the (so-called) Free Syrian Army, which proved to be utterly corrupt and incompetent.
The Syrian people were remarkably loyal and resilient despite waves of foreign terrorists sent from over 80 countries to attack them. Few people imagined how tenaciously they would resist the terrorists.
Around the time that Libya fell, al-Qaeda operatives sent the first 600 jihadists through Turkey to fight against Syria. For the past four years since that, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the US have sent tens of thousands of jihadists and enormous quantities of arms to fuel the terrorists’ brutal uprising.
Allied efforts have promoted global terrorism. All nations that sponsor terrorism in Syria will suffer the consequences of that foolhardy scheme.
Q: High-ranking US officials have repeatedly claimed to be fighting against the ISIL terrorists to kill their threats. In order to fulfill this objective, the US formed an international coalition to eradicate the terrorists. But thus far, the US-led airstrikes have failed to give a severe blow to the ISIL in Iraq and Syria, and now the US president says his country and the coalition aim not to kill but to only CONFINE the threat of ISIL. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar are among the members of the coalition, while they are also known to be the major backers of the ISIL. Why and how did ISIL gain momentum despite promises from the West? What might the future hold?
A: ISIL was created by nations that now claim to oppose it. The ISIL follows Saudi Arabia’s radical theology of Wahhabism. Their remarkable barbarism and brutality stem from this teaching. ISIL was originally financed by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey. Much of this funding is driven by religious hatred toward Christians, Alawites, Shiites and other faiths. ISIL is sworn to murder all who deny Wahhabism, and they train even children to butcher helpless victims.
The future of ISIL is murky. Although ISIL is widely despised, they receive unwavering support from Turkey. Prime Minister Erdogan ensures that weapons, food, reinforcements and medical care are provided to both al-Nusra (terrorist front) and ISIL. According to various reports, Turkey has quietly allowed ISIL to establish consulates in Ankara and Istanbul, giving tacit diplomatic recognition to the vicious terrorist organization.
The US air campaign has been somewhat helpful, especially in Kobani, where it has given the Kurds a decisive edge. However, the extraordinary caution regarding collateral injuries has severely constrained the air effort. Meanwhile, US assistance to the mythical “moderate rebels” needlessly diverts energy from the Syrians and their allies, who are the principal opponents of the ISIL.
Whether ISIL ultimately falls will depend on how resolute the Syrian allies will be. If they remain strong, ISIL can be driven back to the point where they collapse.
Also, the extent of western support for those terrorists referred to as “moderates” will affect the outcome. Despite the recent Parris attacks, I do not believe that most western nations fully grasp the spectacular growth and intensity of global terrorism. Many political leaders continue believing that they have the luxury of helping select groups to terrorize Syria, while simultaneously fighting other groups of terrorists. That notion is, of course, absurd.
