Velayati: Fake US-led coalition more vulnerable than ever
Head of the Expediency Council’s Strategic Research Center Ali-Akbar Velayati said in a message that fake coalitions led by the United States and some other countries will find themselves weaker than ever.
In his Instagram post released on Tuesday, Velayati said holding celebration on the victory of Iraqi people and government and the real allies over Daesh indicates resistance, sacrifice and authority of the regional countries.
Foreign enemies supported by some reactionary countries of the region have started the plot to weaken and to disintegrate governments by establishing terrorist groups, he said.
Velayati congratulated Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Grand Ayatollah Sistani, Iraqi government and people on Mosul liberation.
Iran’s policy has been to avoid foreign countries interference, fighting any kind of terrorism, extremism and takfirism, protecting territorial integrity and confronting any threats.
Mosul fell in June 2014, when Daesh in an attack took control of the city. Iraqi forces launched the operation to retake Mosul on October 16, 2016.
The eastern part of Mosul was recaptured from Daesh in about three months and the most populated part of the city, known as the Old City of Mosul, in the western bank of Tigris River was liberated in recent days.
Iraq and Syria have been targeted by Daesh and other extremist groups supported by West and some regional counties.
