Velayati: Syria is essential cycle of “Resistance Axis” in region

Advisor to the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati reiterated his country’s support to Syria, considering it as an “essential cycle in the resistance axis in the region,” stressing that Syria is stronger than ever before as it succeeded in maintaining steadfastness in face of the conspiracies and terrorist acts to which it is exposed.
At a joint press conference with Head of the Japanese International Studies Establishments, Yushebgi Nogami, who is visiting Tehran currently, Velayati said that Iran supports the territorial unity of Syria and it welcomes national dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition which did not carry any weapons.
He asserted his country’s stance to resolve the crisis in Syria through political solution and dialogue.
He added that the terrorists who came from over 70 countries to Syria to carry out terrorist acts in addition to some Syrians who took up arms have no place in the political dialogue in Syria, pointing out that as long as talks on Syria are going on based on incorrect and oppressive standards, they will reach no result.
