It was announced that Turkey had imposed a trade ban with Israel on May 3. However, since this date, many news and data showing that trade continues with methods such as third countries and bill of lading changes have come to the fore frequently. The Ministry of Commerce says, “Israel is not allowed at customs.”
According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, exports from Turkey to Palestine increased by 41 percent. According to official data, the export amount to Palestine, which was 13 million dollars in January, increased to 178.1 million dollars in September. It increased by 1259 percent compared to January. This means that the export amount increased by 13.7 times.
Exports to Palestine have increased exponentially since April, when the government said it was imposing a “trade embargo on Israel”. According to Israeli Statistics Bureau data, Israel’s imports from Turkey reached 116.1 million dollars in September. Accordingly, official data confirmed that trade between Turkey and Israel is officially continuing.
