Yemen’s Sammad: UN Envoy Persona Non Grata
The Head of Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Saleh Sammad said that the UN envoy Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmad is no longer welcomed in the Arab country.
During a welcome speech in the expanded meeting of Yemen dignitaries on the tenth of Ramadan, Sammad said Ould Sheikh Ahmad is a persona non grata in Yemen.
“Our letter to the United Nations, whose envoy bargained with us on Hodeidah port for money, is that Ould Sheikh is no longer welcomed,” Sammad said addressing hundreds of dignitaries who met upon a call by the leader of Ansarullah revolutionary movement, Sayyed Abdulmalek al-Houthi.
Meanwhile he noted that if the UN wants to assign a new envoy, he must deal with Yemeni people with respect.
“Our letter is firm: we are with peace, but the honored peace that guarantees the dignity of our Yemeni people,” Sammad slamming the UN envoy for turning a blind eye to massacres committed by Saudi aggression.
On the other hand, SABA news agency quoted Sammad as saying that Saudi Arabia has been seeking to impose its guardianship on countries in the region.
Sammad’s remarks come as he was commenting on the recent disputes between members of the Saudi-led coalition.
Yemen has been under a brutal aggression by so-called Arab coalition which groups in addition to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Sudan.
Thousands of Yemenis have been injured and martyred in Saudi-led strikes, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
The coalition has been also imposing a blockade on the impoverished country’s ports and airports as a part of his aggression which is aimed at restoring power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
