Zionist military actions in southern Gaza have resulted in the death of a Palestinian woman, marking another breach of the ceasefire agreement

An incident in the al-Jenena neighborhood, east of Rafah in southern Gaza, resulted in the death of a Palestinian woman, who sustained fatal injuries from gunfire by Israeli forces. This event occurs amid ongoing tensions, as Israeli actions continue despite a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, reportedly supported by Western allies.

According to reports by WAFA News Agency on Friday, local sources have verified that Hanaa al-Ghouti lost her life after Israeli forces discharged live ammunition at civilians in the vicinity.

In a recent escalation, Israeli military vehicles have allegedly discharged machine gunfire towards the eastern and northeastern sectors of the al-Bureij refugee camp, as well as towards the eastern areas of Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood, according to reports.

These shootings took place despite a ceasefire agreement that was implemented on January 19, 2025, subsequent to a 15-month conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip, which has been under blockade.

Since the onset of Israel’s military operations in Gaza in October 2023, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 48,319 Palestinians, a majority of whom are women and children. Additionally, the violence has left approximately 111,749 people injured.

Numerous individuals remain trapped beneath debris as rescue teams encounter difficulties reaching the impacted regions, sparking concerns that the number of fatalities may rise.

The Western mainstream media’s minimal coverage of the death of Hanaa al-Ghouti and other civilian casualties in Gaza highlights a significant disparity when compared to the extensive reports over the last two days focusing on the Israeli captives who perished amid the regime’s bombing of the area, according to the article linked here here.

During its military operations in Gaza, the regime has benefitted from comprehensive political and military backing from Western nations, spearheaded by the United States.

Intermittent assaults by Israeli forces since the inception of the ceasefire throughout Palestinian territories have jeopardized the agreement.

In a significant escalation of tensions, last week saw the loss of three Palestinian police officers following an Israeli drone strike in Rafah. The militant group Hamas has condemned the strike, describing it as a “serious” breach of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.

The ceasefire agreement stipulates that Hamas will release three Israeli captives every Saturday, totaling 33 individuals to be liberated in the first 42 days. In return, approximately 2,000 Palestinian detainees will be released.

In October 2023, the Israeli military launched a campaign that did not meet its declared goals. These objectives included securing the release of hostages, dismantling the resistance in Gaza, and facilitating the relocation of the enclave’s inhabitants into Egypt.
